Our first stop is the Seoul Namsan Cable Car, which takes you up to Namsan Mountain for stunning views of the city. Take in the panoramic view of Seoul and capture memorable photos before moving on to our next destination.

We’ll then head to the iconic Seoul Tower, located on Namsan Mountain. Ride the elevator to the top for even more breathtaking views of the city, and visit observation decks, restaurants, and souvenir shops.

Finally, we’ll visit the renowned Gwangjang Food Market, a food lover’s paradise. This market is more than just a destination; it’s a sacred place to discover the unique flavors and culinary traditions of Korea. Day 2. SEOUL

Discovering the Best of the City’s Culture, History, and People

Get ready to dive into the vibrant and dynamic city of Seoul, where you’ll discover its bustling skylines, rich history, and vibrant pop culture. Seoul has something for everyone, from its magnificent monuments to its spicy street food and friendly locals.

Beginning our day with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Changdeokgung palace or Gyeongbokgung palace is a fantastic way to experience the beauty and cultural significance of Korea. This magnificent palace has been recognized by UNESCO for its unique blend of traditional Korean architecture and natural elements, including its beautiful gardens. 

We’ll then head to the Jogyesa temple, a beautiful Buddhist temple in the heart of Seoul. This temple is well-known for its stunning architecture and peaceful atmosphere, offering a great place to experience traditional Korean Buddhist culture and learn more about the religion.

Afterward, we’ll visit the Insadong art/craft street, a bustling neighborhood famous for traditional Korean arts and crafts. You’ll find unique shops and galleries featuring everything from traditional ceramics and pottery to contemporary art and fashion.

Our next stop is Bukchon hanok village, a preserved traditional Korean village that showcases what life was like in Seoul during the Joseon dynasty. With hundreds of traditional Korean houses, called hanoks, that have been restored and maintained, it’s an excellent place to experience traditional Korean architecture and culture.

Finally, we’ll end our tour at Namdaemun market, one of Seoul’s largest and oldest markets. Here, you’ll experience the city’s hustle and bustle and get a taste of local life. You’ll find many shops and stalls selling everything from traditional Korean food and snacks to clothes, accessories, and souvenirs. It’s an excellent place to find unique gifts and souvenirs to take home with you.

Day 3. SEOUL → DMZ

Discovering Korea’s DMZ – A Facinating Journey into the World’s Most Heavily Guarded Border

Today, we embark on a truly extraordinary journey as we visit the DMZ, the Demilitarized Zone, a strip of land that stretches across the Korean Peninsula, separating North and South Korea. The DMZ, born out of the ideological divisions that led to the Korean War in 1950, holds immense historical and political significance, making it one of the most heavily guarded borders in the world.

Our tour will take us through a series of remarkable destinations within the DMZ, where we’ll delve into the complexities of the Korean Peninsula’s past and present. Our first stop is Imjingak Park, a symbolic place of hope and reconciliation. Explore the park’s monuments, including the Bridge of Freedom, which stands as a poignant reminder of the separation between loved ones during the war.

Next, we’ll visit the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, a chilling testament to North Korea’s infiltration attempts. Descend deep into the tunnel and witness the claustrophobic passageways firsthand. This incredible engineering feat serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing tensions that exist between the two nations.

Continuing our exploration, we’ll make our way to the Dorasan Observatory, where we can gaze across the border into North Korea. Take in the panoramic views of the untouched landscapes, contrasting the heavily fortified border. Our expert guide will provide historical context, sharing stories and insights into the area’s significance.

As we pass by the Unification Village, a symbolic representation of hope and dreams for reunification, reflect on the aspirations of the Korean people for a peaceful resolution and a unified future.

Day 4. SEOUL → GANGHWADO ISLAND

Authentic Local Experience – Home-Hosted Farm Lunch and Meeting with North Korean Defector

Today, we’ll be taking a break from the bustling city and heading to a beautiful and Ganghwado historic island, located about an hour and a half away from Seoul. This island offers a unique rural paradise, showcasing the slow-flowing rural scenery and simple way of life that is distinct from the fast-paced city lifestyle.

Our visit to the island includes a tour of the charming farmhouses that grow Wangdae, the main ingredient used in traditional mat or rug, a famous specialty of the island. We’ll also witness the traditional production methods of the island’s specialty products.

During our visit, we’ll have the opportunity to experience the island’s unique culture firsthand by visiting the homes of local residents, indulging in delicious local cuisine, and engaging in conversations with the locals, learning about their lives and experiences.

After our visit to the island, we’ll stop by the Ganghwa Pungmul Market, which features a range of specialties unique to the island, such as ginseng, salted shrimp, and turnip kimchi. This is an excellent chance to experience the local culture and connect with the warm and friendly people of the island.

Upon our return to Seoul, we’ll have an eye-opening experience at the North Korean Defectors Group, where we’ll hear the personal stories of North Korean defectors who have fled their country and are now living in South Korea. We’ll learn about the reasons for their defection, the challenges they faced during their journey, and the difficulties they face adapting to life in South Korea. It’s a rare and meaningful opportunity to learn about human rights issues in North Korea and gain insight into the lives of those who have bravely started new lives in South Korea.

  • If you’re not interested in participating in this activity, it can be substituted with a visit to the Seoul War Memorial Hall.
